Monfragüe Intro

National Nature Park Monfragüe is in the centre of the triangle formed by Navalmoral de la Mata, Trujillo and Plasencia.
Declared as
Natural Park in 1979, and as National Park in 2007, it stretches 17.852 acres and performs one of the largest and most representative settlings of Mediterranean forest and scrub.
River
Tagus and Tiétar provide it its water environment and carve into the quartzite to accommodate large cliffs. In those cliffs spectacular colonies of Griffon Vultures do settle, and provide a place for Peregrine Falcon, Bonelli Eagle and Eagle Owl to nest.
In its riversides and riverbeds, Kingfisher, Cormorant and Nightingale can be seen. Also, there are other species related with water, like otters.

Pablo's Persona Opinion About Monrfagüe

“Saturday in the morning, I have to get hurry, the bus is going to leave me in ground!
I prepare my backpack taking in the binoculars, some water, the camera and go to Monfragüe!”
Our guide was Jaime, and he told us a lot of unnusual comments and information about birds and his customs.
As nature lover, I enjoyed this experience not only as an ornithological tour but as a geological and environmental experience too, in general. The only downside was that the weather did not let me visit the FIO”.

Elena’s personal opinion about Monfragüe

It was the first time I went to Monfragüe and I will always remember it. I went there on Saturday.

I do agree with my team by saying that the only downside of this visit it was the bad weather.

However we could see the most importants places.
I really like bird watching. One of those birds that caugth my attention was the Egyptian vulture because I could see it almost perfectly. We could see red deer when we tried to see a black stork too.

In the beginning, I ignored the interest that this kind of tourism produces in people and since then it caught my attention more and more.

I enjoyed very much and I would not mind to repeat it another time with my family or friends in a sunny day.

Raul´s personal opinion about Monfragüe

“Many reasons made impossible for me to go with the group. Nevertheless, I could go by my own way and visit it for a few time.
I had been in Monfragüe other times before this, and every time I go I come back more and more impressed because of the beauty of this place.
Apart from that, it was possible for me to climb to the top of the castle to catch a perfect sight of the scene of Monfragüe”.

Ramón´s Personal Opinion about Monfragüe

“On the one hand, the tour was very interesting, because I like very much to stop and see the landscape.
I have the hobby of using a telescope to see the Universe, so taking a pair of binoculars and bird watching is something that catches my attention.
On the other hand, the second day I was attending people at the university stand. It was not the first time I did something like that, so I was slightly used to do this.
In conclusion, this is something I would not mind to repeat”.
